Open Voca on your Mac.

Follow the steps below to open Voca for the first time.

Why does macOS show a warning? Apple checks apps from the internet for a developer certificate. Voca does not have this certificate yet, so macOS says it “could not verify” the app. This does not mean that macOS found a problem in Voca. When we get the certificate, this step will go away.

macOS 15 Sequoia and later

If you see “Voca” Not Opened with the buttons Done and Move to Bin, use these steps.

    Install Voca.

    Open the downloaded file and drag Voca into your Applications folder.

    Open Voca once, then click Done.

    macOS shows “Voca” Not Opened. Click Done. Do not click Move to Bin.

    Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.

    Scroll down to the Security section. You will see a message that says Voca was blocked.

    Click Open Anyway.

    Enter your Mac password or use Touch ID when macOS asks.

    Click Open Anyway again.

    macOS asks you one last time. After this, Voca opens normally. You do this only once for each new version.

macOS 14 Sonoma and earlier

If you see “Voca” cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified, use these steps.

    Install Voca.

    Drag Voca into your Applications folder.

  2. 02

    Control-click Voca and select Open.

    In Applications, hold Control and click Voca (or right-click), then select Open.

  3. 03

    Click Open in the dialog.

    After this, Voca opens normally.

Alternative: use Terminal

If you are comfortable with Terminal, this command removes the download flag from the app. Then open Voca as usual.

xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Voca.app
